Symcor’s commitment to responsible environmental practices begins at the grassroots level. Our passionate employees have engaged their colleagues in initiatives that are helping to turn the Company GREEN!

These employee-led efforts have been supported by management and recognized externally. Symcor was named one of Canada’s Greenest Employers for 2011, 2012 and 2013. Our print facility has won awards at the Canadian Printing Awards for Canada’s Most Environmentally Progressive Printer (2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, and 2015) and for Best Community Program (2012). Symcor was also awarded the first Living Planet @ Work award for “Transformational Leader of the Year” by the World Wildlife Fund (WWF-Canada). Championed by HP, the program aims to harness the collective power of people in the workplace to tackle conservation challenges.

The Symcor National Sustainable Action Committee

A formalized approach to environmental responsibility at Symcor begins with the National Sustainable Action Committee. Representing all lines of Symcor’s business with members chosen from local sustainability committees, our national committee oversees the Company’s corporate Environmental Policy; reviews current research, trends, best practices and proposals in order to recommend specific actions to an executive steering committee; sets corporate goals for environmentally sustainable practices; and prepares regular reports on the Company’s performance and progress against these goals to share with employees and other stakeholders.

Environmentally Responsible Paper Sourcing

Symcor is one of Canada’s largest producers of paper statements and customer communication. We are proud to have maintained tri-certification in Paper Chain of Custody since 2009. Symcor is FSC® (Forest Stewardship Council®) certified by the Rainforest Alliance, PEFC (Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification), and SFI (Sustainable Forestry Initiative). With these internationally recognized certifications, we can assure our clients that certified paper procured and processed through our operations is from certified designated forests that promote responsible forest management practices.
