Symcor shines in Diversity & Inclusion!

On April 1, 2016, Symcor received recognition for Sector Distinction as part of the 2016 Employment Equity Achievement Awards (EEAA).

Through the EEAA, federally regulated private-sector employers are publicly recognized.

This achievement highlights Symcor as an organization that has excelled among their sectorial peers in achieving the highest representation results among the diversity groups: women, Aboriginal peoples, persons with disabilities, and members of visible minorities.

Canada’s Greenest Employer: 2011 - 2018

Symcor is recognized as one of Canada Greenest Employers. Symcor has held this honour for 8 consecutive years!

2015 PMO of the Year Finalist: 2nd Place

The Project Management Institute (PMI) declared Symcor one of the three finalists for the 2015 PMO of the Year Award. This prestigious prize honors a project management office (PMO) that has demonstrated superior organizational project management abilities, adding value to its organization through its support of successful strategic initiatives and achieving a positive and clear impact on business results.

Symcor was proud to be recognized for the work its PMO achieved, receiving second place. It was no small feat as the journey to improving and developing a successful PMO was one that took a lot of determination and many hurdles to overcome.

2015 National HR Awards: Best Diversity Program

Through their promotion of environmental practices and challenge of past business practices, Symcor’s culture has evolved into a more sustainable business environment across all Symcor’s businesses.

Canada's Most Powerful Women: Top 100 Award

Symcor’s President and Chief Executive Officer, Chameli Naraine, was recognized as one of Canada’s Most Powerful Women: Top 100 Award winners in 2014.

Chameli is an inspiring business leader who demonstrates results and values innovation. She recognizes that diverse perspectives create opportunity and that the many capable and skilled women surrounding us provide capacity to unlock value to our businesses, in our communities, and for Canada.

Ascend Canada: TD Executive of the Year 2014

Ascend Canada proudly hosted their first annual Leadership Awards Gala celebrating Pan-Asian stand-out leaders in the community and their contributions to 2013 business achievements. Winners were recognized in the categories of Manulife Mentor of the Year, TD Executive of the Year, RBC Rising Star, Volunteer of the Year and Lifetime Achievement.

As the inaugural recipient of the TD sponsored Executive of the Year Award at the Gala, Chameli expressed her honour on the recognition:

WWF Living Planet @ Work Awards: Transformational Leader of the Year (2012) and Green Champion of the Year (2013)

The WWF’s Living Planet @ Work is a program championed by Hewlett-Packard that aims to harness the collective power of people in the workplace to tackle conservation challenges. Through participation in this program, Symcor was presented with the titles of Transformational Leader of the Year in 2012 and Green Champion of the Year in 2013 at the Living Planet @ Work Awards.

WWF-Canada highlighted the engagement of Symcor employees in WWF campaigns and praised our comprehensive and strategic approach to sustainability. The award also recognized that we’re working to reduce our environmental footprint, we encourage fundraising for environmental initiatives, and we build conservation considerations into our business.

Best Community Program 2012: Silver

At the 2012 Canadian Printing Awards, in addition to winning Bronze for Most Environmentally Progressive Printer, Symcor ISS won Silver for Best Community Program. Symcor ISS was awarded with the Best Community Program for its work with the Toronto Zoo and Polar Bears International on the annual Acres for the Atmosphere Tree Planting.

2010 HP-IAPP Privacy Innovation Award

The International Association of Privacy Professionals (IAPP), a global association of privacy professionals, named Symcor as the 2010 international winner of the HP-IAPP Privacy Innovation Award in the large organization category (more than 5,000 employees) for its A-Integrity process designed to protect sensitive financial information in client statements. Symcor’s A-integrity established a new standard in data protection with an industry-leading error rate of less than one per million statements produced.

This award demonstrates Symcor’s leadership in privacy protection and ability to integrate privacy programs and policies within its organization’s processes. Other 2010 recipients of the award were Minnesota Privacy Consultants and Microsoft Corporation.
